Golf's holy grail comes with a hefty price tag that most enthusiasts are surprisingly willing to pay, according to a new ThoughtCove poll examining how much golfers would spend for a round at Augusta National Golf Club.
How much would you pay for a round at Augusta National?
The survey of 34 respondents revealed that 50% would pay at least $2,001 for the privilege of playing where The Masters is held, with the largest group (26%) falling into the $2,001-$5,000 range and nearly a quarter (24%) willing to spend over $10,000.
Perhaps most striking is how income levels don't always correlate with spending willingness. Among respondents earning $25,000-$49,999, a surprising 33% said they'd pay over $10,000 for the experience—matching the percentage of those in the same income bracket who'd pay under $1,000. This suggests Augusta's mystique transcends typical economic constraints.
The data reveals more predictable patterns at higher income levels. Half of respondents earning over $200,000 annually would pay more than $10,000, compared to just 25% willing to spend $5,000-$10,000. Meanwhile, those in the $150,000-$199,999 bracket showed more restraint, with 50% capping their spending at $2,001-$5,000.
Only 15% of respondents said they'd pay $1,000 or less for the Augusta experience, indicating the course's premium positioning resonates even among budget-conscious golfers. The middle-tier option of $1,001-$2,000 attracted 21% of responses, suggesting a significant portion views Augusta as expensive but not prohibitively so.
Key Findings
- 26% would pay $2,001-$5,000 for an Augusta National round

- Lower-income respondents ($25K-$49K) showed surprising willingness to splurge, with 33% choosing the highest price tier
- Higher earners ($200K+) were most likely to pay premium prices, with 50% selecting over $10,000
- Only 15% would limit spending to under $1,000
